What To Do If You Receive an "Age out of range" Warning?
Understanding and Correcting Date of Birth (DOB) Issues
Sometimes, a student's date of birth (DOB) may be recorded incorrectly for a variety of reasons. Here are a few common scenarios:
- Intentional Off-Level Testing – For example, a 5-year-old may have taken a Level 7 test for gifted and talented (GT) acceleration purposes.
- Limited Birth Year Options – If only 2019 was available to bubble, it may have been used, even though the student was born in 2020.
- Unclear Birth Year Entries – If the birth year wasn’t clearly written, it’s possible that our internal teams made an inaccurate correction when processing the data.
How to Resolve DOB Issues:
- Confirm the Correct DOB – We’ll work with you to verify the student’s accurate date of birth.
- Check for Off-Level Testing – Let us know if the student was intentionally tested at a different level.
- Request a Data Correction – If the DOB needs to be updated, we’ll guide you through the correction process. Once we receive the correct birthdate, we will reprocess the scores.
