Chromebook App Access Options
Please review the options below and follow the recommended path for your organization.
⚠️IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL DISTRICTS⚠️
Due to performance issues with the Google Play (Android) version of the DataManager app,
Riverside recommends that all districts continue using the Chrome App (Legacy) until further notice.
Option 1: Chrome App (Legacy) RECOMMENDED
This is Riverside's current recommended option for Spring 2026 testing because it delivers a proven testing experience at this time. Note that Riverside will communicate updated recommendations for SY26-27.
Enable Chrome Apps in Google Admin Console
Only a Google Admin can enable Chrome apps on managed devices. If you are not an administrator, please share these instructions with your IT team.
-
Sign in to Google Admin Console using your administrator account.
-
From the left hand menu, go to Devices > Chrome > Settings > Device Settings.
-
Select the organizational unit or Group that contains the devices you want to update. To apply to all devices, leave the top organizational unit selected.
-
Locate the policy for Chrome Apps allowed for kiosk mode.
-
Change the setting to: Keep using Chrome apps in kiosk sessions (limited time).
-
Click Save (Settings usually take effect within minutes, but it may
take up to 24 hours for all devices).
Installation Steps
-
Search for the Riverside DataManager Chrome app using App ID: gngadipbljmmcgcjjflidckpbgebnhod (or click here).
-
Select the appropriate group or organizational unit.
-
Under the Installation Policy, choose Force Install or Force Install + pin to ChromeOS taskbar.
-
Save changes.
Launch the DataManager Chrome App
Once your administrator has enabled Chrome apps:
- Open the Chrome browser on your Chromebook or device.
- Go to your Apps Launcher and select DataManager.
You can continue using the Chrome app until Riverside notifies districts of an approved alternative.
Option 2: Google Play (Android App) Not Recommended for Spring 2026
The Google Play version of DataManager is currently not performing up to Riverside's standards. We do not recommend using this option for assessments until further notice.
We are actively working to resolve the issues with the Android app and will communicate when it is ready for district use. Thank you for your patience.
In the meantime, please continue with the Chrome App (Legacy) option described above in Option 1.
