Grade 2

Test

Description

Reading

This assessment measures the following reading and language skills:

  • Language and writing (conventions of Standard English, knowledge of language, and vocabulary acquisition and use). Foundational skills and phonics are also measured.
  • Reading literature and informational text (key ideas, craft and structure, and integration of knowledge and ideas).

Mathematics

This assessment measures the student’s understanding of math concepts, relationships, visual representations, and problem solving. The questions deal with operations and algebraic thinking, number and operations in base ten, measurement and data, and geometry.

 

 

Grades 3–8

Test

Description

Reading

This assessment measures the following reading and language skills:

Grades 3 through 5

  • Language and writing (conventions of Standard English, knowledge of language, and vocabulary acquisition and use). For Grade 3, foundational skills and phonics are also measured.
  • Reading literature and informational text (key ideas, craft and structure, and integration of knowledge and ideas).
  • Grades 6 through 8
  • Language and writing (conventions of Standard English, knowledge of language, and vocabulary acquisition and use).
  • Reading literature, informational text, history/social studies, science, and technology (key ideas, craft and structure, and integration of knowledge and ideas).

Mathematics

This assessment measures the student’s understanding of math concepts, relationships, visual representations, and problem solving. The questions deal with number sense and operations, algebraic patterns and connections, data analysis, probability, statistics, geometry, and measurement.

 
 

Grades 9–11

Test

Description

Reading

This assessment measures the following reading and language skills:

  • Language and writing (conventions of Standard English, knowledge of language, and vocabulary acquisition and use).
  • Reading literature, informational text, history/social studies, science, and technology (key ideas, craft and structure, and integration of knowledge and ideas).

Mathematics

This assessment measures the student’s understanding of math concepts, relationships, visual representations, and problem solving. The questions deal with number sense and operations, algebraic patterns and connections, data analysis, probability, statistics, geometry, and measurement. This assessment also measures the student’s ability to use a graphing calculator.
