Thursday, April 3rd
10 AM PT | 12 PM CT | 1 PM ET
About the Session:
Join Dr. Dawn P. Flanagan for an in-depth webinar on how the Woodcock-Johnson V (WJ V) assessment can be effectively used to identify Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD). This session will cover key assumptions about SLD, various identification methods, and a focus on the Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses (PSW) approach. Participants will gain insights into the WJ V cognitive and achievement tests, CHC classifications, and comparison base-rate procedures to support accurate diagnosis. Practical examples will demonstrate how to apply these tools in evaluating reading and math difficulties, with considerations for intervention planning. Ideal for school psychologists, educators, and professionals involved in learning disability assessments.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify 2-3 cognitive correlates of difficulties with word reading accuracy and reading fluency.
- Interpret the PR base rate in a WJ V Comparison Base Rate Procedure
- State 2-3 ways the WJ V aligns with the PSW method of SLD identification
