Qualitative descriptors for BDI-3

The BDI-3® still uses qualitative descriptors like Significant Developmental Delay and Mild Developmental Delay, just like its predecessor. These descriptors help interpret a child’s Developmental Quotient (DQ) scores.

🔧 Steps

  1. Refer to page 101 of the BDI-3® Examiner’s Manual for a full list of descriptors.

  2. Alternatively, log into Riverside Score®.

  3. Navigate to the Resources tab.

  4. Locate the DQ Proficiency Range Chart under Technical Manuals.

📝 Additional Notes

  • These descriptors provide context for a child’s developmental progress and help support recommendations for intervention services.

  • The chart includes ranges for labels such as Average, Below Average, and Above Average, in addition to developmental delays.
