BDI-3: Do I need to administer all domains to get a Developmental Quotient?
Do I Need to Administer All Domains to Get a Developmental Quotient?
Overview
The BDI-3™ provides Developmental Quotients (DQ) for individual domains as well as an overall Total Score DQ. To receive a valid DQ score—either domain-specific or total—you must complete all relevant portions of the assessment.
Steps
1. Understanding DQ Scores
-
A Developmental Quotient (DQ) is a standard score with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15.
-
DQ scores are available for each of the five developmental domains and as a Total DQ Score across all domains.
2. To Get a Domain-Specific DQ (e.g., Communication Domain):
-
You must administer all subdomains within that domain that apply to the examinee’s age.
-
Example: To receive a Communication Domain DQ, you must administer both Receptive and Expressive subdomains.
-
3. To Get a BDI-3 Total Score DQ:
-
You must administer all five developmental domains included in the BDI-3 Developmental Complete assessment.
Additional Notes
-
Partial administration of a domain or the full battery will result in no DQ score being generated for that section.
-
Always consult the age-appropriate guidelines in the manual to ensure full coverage.
