Join Dr. Joni Lakin and Anchorage School District's Gifted Program Supervisor, Peter Ljubicich, as he shares the progress the district has made identifying students from underrepresented groups. A large and very diverse district, Anchorage has recently implemented several practices in identification including universal screening and multiple pathways to programs that are helping to identify and serve talented students who would not have previously qualified.

Key Takeaways:

  • Exploring Anchorage's new “We Find You” identification practices
  • Switching from referral to universal screening to better serve students from indigenous and underrepresented groups
  • Pros and cons of using multiple identification pathways as opposed to a matrix with set cut-offs

We will be sending a recording and certificate of attendance following the presentation.
