Report Writing When Using PSW to Identify Dyslexia

9:30 PST / 11:30 CST / 12:30 EST

Andrew Shanock, Ph.D.

Report writing is an opportunity to provide information about and for clients to allow them and/or their families to best advocate for specific interventions. The reports should be unique to the individual and explain their problem-solving strategies and performance rather than a report that is filled with normative numerical data and template descriptions of various measures. The report should be about the client rather than the test. This workshop will discuss how to do efficient collaborative PSW evaluations which address all components of reading within the Science of Reading framework.

Learning Objectives:

  • Attendees will be able to provide clear information within their reports as to client performance and problem-solving strategies so as to make any normative score or classification unique to the individual client.
  • Attendees will have a practice-ready PSW model on how to organize and interpret data from all school-based service providers.
  • Attendees will reach consensus on the distinctive definitions of dyslexia and language impairment within the context of the Science of Reading (SOR)
