WJ V Differences between Item Notes and Test Session Notes

This article will explain the differences and where to find your notes

Item Notes

During administration of the WJ V, you might want to record notes while the test is happening. The option to record notes for each test item can be found at the top of the session, right next to the flag button. Click on "Note" and a window will open, allowing you input notes related to each test question. Click on "Note," then type test item details you would like to record. When you are done, click the "X" to close. That note will be saved to the specific question.

These notes are called Item Notes. These notes will not be on a regular Score Report; Item Notes will be on the Item Level Detail Report. To see Item Level Notes, make sure to change the Report Type from Score Report to Item Level Detail Report.

These notes will be under the specific question that you put them in.

Response Style and Behavior Statements

Response Style and Behavior Statement Notes are the observations you record related to the entire subtest. After you click "End Test," click on "+ Add Response Style and Behavior Statements" to add your observations related to the entire subtest.

Test Session Notes

In Review Mode, when you have finished testing, you can review content, edit scores, resolve flags, listen to audio recordings, and more. When you have completed your review, and click "Submit Test Assignment," you will have the option to record Test Session Observations and Test Session Notes. Then click "Submit Test Assignment."

When you create a Score Report, if you would like the Response Style and Behavior Statements, Test Session Observations, and/or Test Session Notes included on the report, make sure to click "Yes" for the options you would like to show on the bottom of the report.

Finally, click "Generate Report," This will create your normal Score Report with the observations at the very bottom.
