This onboarding framework provides step-by-step guidance for districts and schools preparing to administer assessments using DataManager, Riverside Insights’ online testing platform for CogAT® and Iowa Assessments. It outlines all required milestones, responsible parties, and helpful resources to ensure a smooth and successful testing experience.

When to Use:
Use this framework at the start of your testing planning cycle and throughout your preparation, from determining your testing window through test administration. It is especially critical for new customers, newly appointed testing coordinators, or any district implementing online testing for the first time.

When to complete: Begin this step early in your testing cycle to ensure alignment with your desired testing window and district needs.

When to complete: Immediately after your DataManager account is set up.

Checklist for Successful Step Completion
• Ensure student devices meet the System Requirements
• Configure kiosk app and browser for student devices
• Ensure that any in-line devices, such as proxy servers or application firewalls, allow both HTTP and HTTPS traffic (see here for Domain and Port Listing)

When to complete: Begin this step at least 2-3 weeks before testing starts. Uploaded files are typically processed within 3-5 business days if there are no errors.

Checklist for Successful Step Completion:
• Download templates from the DataManager Resource Page.
• Fill in all required fields (marked with an asterisk).
• Ensure consistency across Location, Staff, and Student files.
• Only include a Location file if adding new locations.
• Check for common errors:
• Duplicate student IDs
• Missing grade/class data for staff
• Mismatched location data
• Upload completed files to the SFTP site below.
When to complete: Prior to your Test Event (as close as possible to ensure relevancy)
Proctors should complete training before the testing window (Test Event) begins. Training options include complimentary sessions on the DataManager Overview page, subscription to our Riverside Training Academy, custom live webinars, or on-site training purchased by the district.

• Test Proctors (those administering the test)

Checklist for Successful Step Completion:
- Complete Proctor Training: Ensure all proctors undergo training via complimentary resources, Riverside Training Academy, or custom webinars.
- DataManager Account Setup: Add proctors to the Staff Roster File or manually input their details into DataManager.
When to complete: After importing roster files
A district-level test event must be set up for all grade levels scheduled for the test. One test event per assessment is sufficient for the entire district, per assessment.

Checklist for Successful Step Completion:
• Log into DataManager.
• Use the Assessments tab to create a test event.
• Choose the midpoint of the testing window as the test event date.
• Testing can commence upon event creation and will conclude 30 days after the event (extend as needed).
When to complete: Once the test event for the district is open.
Proctors or designated school administrators will organize test sessions. Each session requires a unique seven-digit code generated upon creation.

• Proctor and/or School Administrator (for session creation and test administration)

• Log into DataManager
• Use the Proctor tab to create test sessions.
• Consider creating a session for “Getting Started” tutorial
• Open Test Session
• Begin Testing
• Monitor Students
• Use "Continue Testing All" after each of the completed subtests planned for the session.
• Use “End Testing All” when the last subtest is completed.
